Fluency
Reading Development Stages:
There are five reading development stages.
Emergent Stage: The reader pretends to read. This is the prereading stage of development.
Beginning Stage: The reader reads aloud, word-by-word, using fingerpoint reading.
Transitional Stage: The reader is approaching fluency, some expression in oral reading.
Intermediate Stage and Advanced Stage:
The reader reads fluently with expression. His or her vocabulary grows with experience, reading and writing. (Bear,2004)
